The three-day workshop was held on 18-20 May, 2016, at the Porto Carras hotel in Chalkidiki, Greece, with 71 participants, coming from 15 countries and representing important academic and industrial institutions.
The workshop covered all thermochemical lignocellulose conversion technologies, ranging from gasification to pyrolysis and hydrothermal biomass processing. Moreover, attention was paid to cover the entire biofuel production value chain, starting with the biomass supply chain, the primary biomass conversion, the upgrading of biomass-derived liquids and their final use in different applications.
A good balance between speakers from within the CASCATBEL consortium and other EU-funded sister projects was achieved and also between speakers from academia and important industrial players coming both from the EU and USA.
